Black Bile Test is a video, made for an exhibition in Kofu, Japan curated by Swedish artist Giulia Cairone.

The title is based on the history of the phenomenon 'black bile'. By definition, in medieval science and medicine, black bile was one of the four bodily humours, believed to be associated with a melancholic temperament. However, the writer W.G Sebald, made the claim in the book ‘Constructs of Mourning’ that in the 16th century, black bile was a synonym for writers ink.
